Studio Hav

We design quiet buildings that hold the light of the North — spaces built to outlast the seasons, not the trends.

Havnehus exterior

A house turned toward the water

Havnehus sits at the edge of a reclaimed industrial harbour, where the city meets the Øresund. The brief was simple and severe: a family home that disappears into the quay by day and glows like a lantern at dusk.

We worked with a single material logic — pale in-situ concrete, oiled oak, and glass detailed to vanish. Nothing decorative was added. The view does the work.

Light as the only ornament

Openings were positioned to track the low Nordic sun across the day, so the interior is never lit the same way twice. Deep reveals cut glare; oak floors carry warmth into rooms that would otherwise read cold.

The plan folds around a double-height core, drawing daylight to the centre of the house and keeping the perimeter free for living.

Copenhagen · Founded 2011

A studio of nine, working between architecture and interiors at a deliberately small scale.

Studio Hav was founded on the belief that good buildings are slow. We take few projects each year and stay with each one from the first sketch to the last fitting, so the idea survives intact to the door handle.

Our work is rooted in the Danish tradition of restraint — daylight, honest materials, and rooms that improve with use. We build for the long climate of the North, where a space must be as kind in December dark as in June light.
